When They Needed To Fix Their Cars, These People Decided To Save Money And Get Creative!
If you're a car owner, you know that your car will, at some point, make its way to a garage. For most, this means going in for an oil change or getting new tires. For others, it means getting a new mirror, fixing a dent, or getting a completely new door. All of which are pricey.
The thing is that it's not always necessary to break the bank. All you have to do is think outside the box and get creative!
Can You Be-Leaf The Car Owner Thought This Was A Good Fix?
When you get a tiny dent in your car, you'll usually bring it in so someone can fix it for you. Right? Well, for our friend here that solution seemed just a bit too easy.
Instead of bringing it in to get professionally fixed, they decided to do it themselves... you know, to save money and all that jazz. This is what we call the "you won't be-leaf there is a dent under here" repair.
The Car Got A Boo-Boo
The thing is, the owner of this car isn't wrong. The car is "hurt," ergo, it needs to have band-aids put on its boo-boo to make it all better! The only problem is now they have a funky looking passenger-side of the car that they're going to have to explain on any date they go on.
Who are we kidding? There is no way this person is going on a date anytime soon. Here's to being single!
When Life Gives You A Scratch, Make Art!
For most of us, coming out to a parking lot and seeing a massive scrape down the side of our car is enough to ruin the week. Who wants to pay a body shop to get that fixed? No one!
Well, this guy took "fixing" his car into his own hands. All he needed was a permanent marker and an endless supply of creativity! Hopefully, that map leads him to some hairspray to put on his drawing so it doesn't wash away.
Keep Your Hands And Feet Inside The Vehicle At All Times
We're not sure what caused the gnarly gash on the side of this car, but we're fairly sure we can rule out a rouge T-Rex running through the city. Maybe it was a feral cat that was upset he didn't get fed in time?
Either way, we're weirdly glad that this car was cut because it paved a way for the owner to get that awesome Jurassic Park decal. The car literally looks like a prop that Chris Pratt drove in one of the films.
Oh, Deer, What Happened!?
We have a hankering suspicion that this person has been asked what happened to his car one too many times. Talk about being sick of answering questions! Might as well use duct tape to spell out the cause behind the dent on your car with a huge arrow pointing to the issue. Oh, wait, they already did that.
Ever think that it wasn't the deer's fault but your driving? Way to blame an innocent animal on your horrible driving skills and then outing the animal to the world!
Mom, Mom, Mom, Mommy, Ma, Ma, LOIS!
We can hear the voice of Family Guy's Stewie Griffin yelling at his mother, Lois, for getting a dent in the family car. So, it fits that the owner of the car drew his head in the weirdly-shaped football-looking dent.
While the owners were probably not too happy about the dent, they were likely all giggles while drawing the character. Let's just hope Fox doesn't come knocking on their door for copyright infringement!
Mondays Are Fine As Long As There Is Lasagna
There is nothing as aesthetically pleasing as scratches that line up perfectly with a fat orange cat's claw marks. In this case, our lazy friend Garfield is doing his thing, scratching up the side of the car. It's the perfect "fix" because we're not sure where the real scrapes stop and the decal starts.
Bravo for the owner having a good sense of humor about their car woes. They should treat themselves to a nice big tray of cheesy lasagna.
Mailbox Vs. Honda: Who Will Win?
Considering how much force it takes to dent a car, we're kind of curious as to what material this mailbox is made out of! Did Iron Man make an indestructible mailbox and sell it to someone who owns a Honda?
That honestly doesn't seem plausible, considering Tony Stark would laugh at the make and model of the car. Still, considering the Honda owner is keeping tabs on who is winning the war, we're concerned about how many times they plan on running into the mailbox.
Colorful Stitches Make Everything Better
There is no telling what could have caused the car to almost lose a perfect circle out of its back bumper, but we're sure it wasn't pretty. Whatever the cause, the owner obviously didn't want to go with any boring old fix.
Nope, this owner decided to play doctor and stitch up their car using brightly colored rubber bands. In all honesty, the patch job doesn't look half bad! It would have been a different story had the owner used typical brown rubber bands.
Nothing Like A Corset To Make A Car Feel Beautiful
This car can only belong to one of two people. The first being Anastasia Steele from Fifty Shades of Grey, who, obviously, always has some sort of rope on her at all times. She would know how to tie a fender bender up like a corset.
The second person being anyone who was brave enough to wear those knee-high converse shoes that were popular in the early 2000s. If you wore those things then you are a master shoe lacer and would have no issue with this type of project!
Don't Let The Footprint Fool You, Chuck Norris Dented This Door With Just His Big Toe
Back in 2005, Chuck Norris took the Internet world by storm. You couldn't get away from the memes even if you wanted to. And let's be honest, none of us wanted to. It was like having a personal scapegoat to blame every time something broke or was dented.
Oh, that glass shattered? Yea, well Chuck Norris broke it so he could eat the glass for breakfast. Oh, that car door was dented in an accident? No, Chuck Norris stomped on it with his big toe.
Ryu Making A Power Move On An Unseen Foe
Nothing says "I spent way too much time at the arcade growing up," quite like thinking the scratch on your car looks like a popular move of a lot of characters from Street Fighter.
Kudos to the owner of this car for making the connection of Ryu's move, the Hadouken, to the shape of the scrape. At least we now have some inspiration if we ever have a paint exchange! Then again, we'd probably go get it buffed out.
Making Cars Street Illegal, One Water Bottle At A Time
Having scrapes and scratches on your car might make it look bad, but at least it doesn't affect your car's legal status or your ability to drive at night. Not having headlights, on the other hand, kind of leaves your car out of commission.
We're not lawyers or anything, but we're fairly certain that sticking water bottles in the place of headlights isn't what one would call a legal "fix." To each his own, though.
Hulk Smash Car!
If the Avenger movies have taught us anything it is that the Hulk is very good at two things: getting angry and smashing things. So what better way to "fix" a dent in your car then with some Incredible Hulk decals that illustrate him smashing the car.
It definitely helps that the decal is in two separate sections, considering where the dents are on the car. Here's to hoping the owner doesn't need to utilize any of the other Avengers on their car.
When You Finally Know What To Do With Your Random Figurines
Thankfully, whatever took out this chunk of bumper didn't decide to take more of the car with it. And whoever it was couldn't have picked a better car! Just by reading the bumper stickers, it's clear that this person is an artist.
So what better way for an artist to fix a problem then making it into a project? At least they had an excuse to use all of those old '90s figurines that were lying at the bottom of their closet collecting dust.
Cowabunga, Dude!
Besides outright asking, there are only a few ways to figure out someone's age. One of those ways is seeing what pop culture icons they know. If one of those icons is a fictitious teenage mutant ninja turtle than that person is 100 percent from either the 1980s or 1990s.
Science has proven that if you're from either of these times then it is mandatory to scream "cowabunga, dude!" at the top of your lungs whenever you see a depiction of one of the turtles.
This Car Is Worthy Of Thor's Hammer
We know what you're thinking, there's a huge end of the year blow-out sale going on at Huish's and you're just now hearing about it. If we could please direct your attention away from the great savings and toward the foreground of the picture, you'll notice that Thor's hammer is stuck to the side of the car.
This is areally creative way to save face with a huge door dent. Not to mention it probably saved the owner a pretty penny replacing the door! Now they can go to the sale and not worry about spending too much.
A Skeleton Hand Mirror To Foreshadow The Vandal's Fate
There's nothing worse than walking out to your car only to notice that one of your mirrors has been ripped clean off. Not only is it a lot of money to fix but it's illegal to drive without side mirrors.
This person didn't let the lack of a mirror get them down, though. They just went to their toolbox, threw together a nut and bolt skeleton hand, and found a random mirror lying around. Not a bad way to fix a missing mirror problem!
The Car You Didn't Know You Needed At Tailgates
The day this car door's handle fell off was the day it took one step closer to becoming the tailgating car of all tailgating cars. Never again will this person or their buddies be scrambling around to find a bottle opener when there is one permanently affixed to the car door!
The person who created this masterpiece is definitely ahead of their time. Necessity is the mother of invention, after all! Just don't drink and drive.
Oops, They Did It Again
Considering we can't really tell what happened to this car's front bumper, we guess that the patch is doing its job. It's too bad that the only thing that the driver got out of their Saved By The Bell font and color scheme was telling the world that they're a poor driver.
Maybe this car owner should stick to what they know, arts and crafts. Although, now that we're thinking about it, the time it took them to create that band-aid probably would have been better utilized reading a driver's manual.
Comic Book Meets The Real World
The dent in this car door is so big that we're honestly not sure it wasn't created by some sort of comic book superhero fight. Whether its damage was done by Batman punching the Joker or another car ramming into the side of this one, we can't think of a better way to creatively fix the dent then putting a comic book "POW!"
The best part is that the owner of this car went through the trouble of painting the decal when they really could have just gone out and bought one. Props for the commitment!
One Big Scrap Calls For One Big Band-Aid
This isn't the first time we've seen a car sporting a band-aid over an unsightly dent or scrape. Granted, it isn't a bunch of normal-sized band-aids but an industrial-sized one that is probably better suited for the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk.
Nonetheless, the owner of this car obviously knew what they were doing when they put a large tan band-aid on the side of their white car. Maybe they were looking for the attention that they are surely getting.
It's Time To Say Goodbye To This Car
We're all for the creative approaches to fixing dents and scrapes but this car is a bit beyond a normal homemade fix. This car looks less like an "I scratched the side of the garage" and more along the lines of "I accidentally rammed into a brick wall at 100 miles per hour. Whoops."
Hopefully, the driver walked away from the accident because we would love to pick their mind over how they thought these strips were a good idea.
Using An Ancient Music Maker For A Gas Cap
Losing a gas cap is nothing to joke about. No one wants their money sloshing this way and that and possibly spilling out of the tank! Gas is expensive enough as it is. As for the material this person used as their "fix," at least they were resourceful. No one uses CDs anymore.
The only problem we see if that the tape seems a bit flimsy, and we're not quite sure how they're going to get the gas pump to the tank unless they feel like taking the CD off each time.
Somewhere Out There Is A Barn Missing A Wall
Either the passenger-side door or the entire right side of the car got into a bit of a fender bender. Sheet metal is obviously the go-to solution for a problem such as this. It's durable, if you're in the south no one will ask questions, and it could be the original part of the car if you really use your imagination.
We do have a few questions, though. Like how is the big hunk of metal sticking to the car? And how does a passenger actually get to their seat?
They're Trying To Reduce Waste
We're not entirely sure how the idea to use a Doritos bag as a way to cover up a busted taillight came into play, but it's working. Kind of... well, not really. If they were going for a material that could potentially be used as a pseudo-light, then they might need to go back to middle school and take a science class.
While normal packaging is made out of a combination of plastic and a bit of aluminum, there is no way it will let enough light through to be safe on the road. At least they're reducing waste?
At First Glance, There Is Nothing Wrong With This Car
We know... at first glance, it doesn't look like anything is wrong with this car. Then, on the second and third glance, it looks even more normal. It's got to be the chopstick-inspired hubcap that's weird, right? Nope!
The "creative" thing about this silver car is that it's not painted at all. Instead, the old car is completely wrapped in duct tape. We wonder if it started off as a small dent and then just escalated to a "might as well do the entire thing" mentality.
It's Certainly Not A 3D Print Job
There are a lot of creative ways to cover up a busted headlight. One of which, albeit not exactly creative, is to go to the shop and get it fixed. But who are we to give out an obvious solution?
This owner thought of something way better: printing out a good old A4 sheet of paper with a picture of a headlight on it. While it certainly isn't a 3D printout, hopefully, it serves its purpose until they can get to a garage.
This Truck Is Taking It Back To The Old West
Losing a car door might seem like the end of the world. But if you're this car owner, you have a few old country tricks up your sleeve that will save you a boatload of money. What is the trick you might ask? A wooden door.
The end result will make any passenger feel like they're stepping in and out of an old western saloon. Not sure the designer got the "saloon-style" memo though, considering they used old door hinges on one side and then a gold chain doorknob.
A Mirror Is A Mirror, No Matter Which Way You Put It
Side mirrors aren't too complicated to get fixed if they get smashed off your car. That being said, if you do find yourself needing to replace a mirror, as this car owner has found themselves, then look no further than your bathroom cabinets!
We know that it's not the safest method but it sure is practical. With a little help from some medical tape, the new side mirror is good to go! Maybe take side streets to avoid any potential cops.
Two Broken Cars Equals One Fixed Car
Hear us out. This is pretty ingenious. If you have two broken cars lying around why wouldn't you stick them together to make a working vehicle? It actually takes a lot of talent to puzzle together this creative fix.
We're guessing he didn't use Krazy Glue, due to wiring issues. Meaning, this guy is either a master mechanic or he's Fred Flinstoneing it down the street with his feet. Either way, nicely done sir.
Stop, Wooden Hammer Time
Hopefully, this person knows that they don't get extra points on creativity by using a hammer made of wood. We honestly think they would have been better off using a good old-fashioned metal hammer. It would probably last longer!
Moving forward from the poor resource choice, is anyone else confused about how a wooden hammer is able to shift the gears of a car? And how does one go about losing the stick shift to being with?
Blue For Air Conditioning And Red For Heat, Duh
Although this "fix" looks like it would be better off in a steampunk contraption, we have to give the guy props. One, knobs for what we can only imagine being the air conditioning and heater settings are genius and easy. Two, they're color-coded!
Who doesn't like a nice color-coded mechanism? There is literally zero way to screw up which setting is which while you're driving. You, sir, have my vote as the most creative person.
Doesn't Fit? Just Cut A Hole In The Door
You have to hand it to this guy for thinking of this little "hack." Whoever did it has a point, why pay for a mechanic when you can just cut a hole in the car door so your tire fits? Easy!
Too bad for the person who has to sit in the back seat, though. They'll probably have gravel pegging them at every turn of the tire! And let's be honest, that isn't going to feel good at all.
Just Sweeping Away The Grime
Technically speaking, the person who did this fix isn't necessarily wrong. Brooms are used to sweep away dirt and grime, after all. In this case, though, we're not entirely sure if the broom is actually doing anything. In fact, it might be making that back windshield worse, if that's even possible.
This is one of those times where we have to tell the owner of this vehicle to go get a back windshield wiper. One, it's just safer for everyone involved if you can see out your back windshield. And two, they're cheap!
Hey, At Least It's Getting Cleaned
Okay, we get it, sponges clean things and absorb water. That doesn't mean that it is going to work too well as a makeshift windshield wiper! Well, maybe it will for about the first five sweeps, but that is all we are giving this DIY project.
Like the boom, we highly recommend this person just get a new windshield wiper! This is the front windshield, too. Car people everywhere are silently crying at this fix.
Moo-ve Aside Everyone
Lose half of your car in some freak accident? No problem! Just take a page out of this guy's book and hire a moo friend to transport you around town. All you need is a whole lot of heavy-duty rope, two wheels from another dismembered car, and a friendly cow.
Best part? No high bills at the garage that was going to put your car back together. Mooove aside mechanics, we have a jerry-rigged modern-day cart on the streets.
What? They're Wheels!
So, there are apparently two kinds of people in the world. Those who have a spare tire in their trunk and those who have a spare dolly lying around to use as a tire. Did we mention that this is not a good solution? How is that thing even staying in place?
We're taking a wild guess and think that they temporarily tied it to the underside of the car. Hopefully, they are on their way to a tire shop to get that hazard fixed!
At Least It's Holding The Light Open
The good news with this "repair" is that a cop wouldn't be able to pull them over for a broken headlight! Could they? Well, maybe if the screwdriver went flying out of its spot. Regardless, we have to give credit where credit is due. This is a great temporary fix!
That being said, did the owner of this car ever think that maybe they just shouldn't drive at night? Get your car fixed before testing cop fate, friend!
This Is What Happens When AC Is Life
We're going to go on record here and say that it is cheaper to buy new coolant for your car than installing a huge air conditioner on top of the hood. But who are we to say? You do you, air-con person.
Granted, if this person lives in the deep south, this air conditioner might work a lot better in a black car then a typical car AC unit does. Too bad we like the tops of our cars too much to find out!
