Ford Files Trademarks For New Bronco Models
Ford is gearing up to release the new models of the Bronco, and the automaker appears to have a few tricks up their sleeve. Motor1 discovered that Ford filed several new trademarks with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in July of 2019. The trademarks include "Bronco Outer Banks", "Bronco Big Bend", and "Bronco Sport." It's a hint of what's to come after production of the fifth-generation ended in 1996.
It appears that Ford is positioning their new Bronco designs to compete with the beloved Jeep Wrangler. Their trademark filing includes "Land motor vehicles, namely, passenger automobiles, pick-up trucks, sport utility vehicles." Ford has taken measures to prevent the body style of their newer models from being revealed as they fine-tune the models before introducing them to the public in 2020.
While trademarks don't always come into fruition once the final product is released, the auto industry is staying tuned to see exactly what Ford will come up with when they release the sixth generation of the Bronco. Only time will tell.
