The Most Exciting Vehicles Coming Out In 2020
With the start of a new year comes with it the latest and greatest new car models. New interiors and body models for us to build and price on manufacturer websites. Some cars are going into a new generation which can sometimes bring even bigger upgrades and entire overhauls of everything we came to know and get familiar with.
There are some models who are being re-introduced, so some cars that we haven't seen in years are going to be remade in a modern image. Regardless of whether it's a brand new model, a new generation of an existing model or a resurgence of a past model, here are the most exciting cars coming out in 2020.
2020 Porsche Taycan
The first all-electric Porsche model released by the German manufacturing company, the Taycan is a 2-door coupe similar to the Panamera only in cost. While it may be new, it still has several classic Porsche features.
Base models of the Taycan are expected to come in at the mid-$80,000 price range with some of the top models going for over $175,000. Depending on the battery and power options, the Taycan ranges from 402 horsepower to 670 horsepower.
2020 Toyota Camry TRD
A sportier version of the 4-door sedan that most of us normally associate with being more family-friendly, the Toyota Camry TRD will give buyers more horsepower and special tuning.
Toyota lowered the Camry TRD to reduce its center of gravity and it is powered by a 3.5-L V6 engine that gets 301 horsepower. Toyota has not announced the official release date of the TRD but buyers can expect new model details in the fall of 2019.
2020 BMW 7 Series
BMW's most luxurious model to date, the 7 series is heading into its 6th generation with a new design, more features, and a new engine. With a base model engine going from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, BMW will also give buyers the chance to buy an electric hybrid model that goes even faster with a total of 389 horsepower.
With fully autonomous driving vehicles on the horizon, BMW has also made recent jumps in the driving technology and the 7 series will have some of their new features such as steering wheel correction available in 2020.
2020 Cadillac CT5
The CT5 is an all-new model coming to the Cadillac lineup in 2020 and can be described as a small luxury car that combines the latest in technology with a luxurious presence.
The CT5 will be turbocharged and comes standard with a 2.0-L 4-cylinder engine that produces 237 horsepower with options to buy a more powerful model that gets up to 335 horsepower. Buyers also have the option to buy the CT5 as an all-wheel-drive, though it comes standard as a rear-wheel-drive.
2020 Hyundai Palisade
Replacing the Santa Fe XL, the Palisade will come in as Hyundai's flagship SUV. It has a more aggressive and muscular build along with flared fenders and a wide set grille.
Family-focused, the Palisade will be able to seat up to eight people and even comes with an intercom system and rear sleep mode for those extra-long road trips. All new Palisades come standard with a 3.8-L V6 engine that gets 291 horsepower, Buyers can expect to buy one in the summer of 2020.
2020 Land Rover Road Rover
While we wait on further details and confirmations, one thing that we do know about the Land Rover Road Rover is that it will be a 4-door sedan marketed by the brand we know best for its SUVs.
The Road Rover will share its platform with Jaguar's XJ model but keep a lot of the exterior features that we have come to know from Land Rover including the chrome netted grille. Like a lot of manufacturers releasing new cars in 2020, the Road Rover will have an electric powertrain and off-roading capabilities.
2020 Jaguar F-Type
As part of the promise that Jaguar made to the public that it would have all of its vehicles electrified by 2020, they are coming in with a bang releasing the F-Type, a performance model as an all-electric in 2020.
Not only is the car getting an entirely new facelift and new body design but it will get these new features without sacrificing any of the performance that Jaguar is known for. Although there has not been a set release date for the F-Type, Jaguar has been leaking more and more information about when we can expect them on the market.
2020 Jeep Gladiator
The first off-road pickup truck since the Comanche was discontinued in the 1990s, the Jeep Gladiator’s name has come back after being in retirement for more than 30 years. Sharing its platform with the latest Jeep Wrangler, the Gladiator will come in 4 trim options with a base entry price starting in the mid $30,000’s.
Built more for off-roading and power, the Gladiator will come standard with a 3.6L V6 engine that gets 285 horsepower. Though they aren’t available now, FCA has been rumored to making more hybrid SUVs in the future, including the Gladiator.
2020 Jeep Wagoneer
Making a comeback after being sold for over 30 years from the 1960s to the 1990s, the Jeep Wagoneer will come back to compete with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade and the Lincoln Navigator. It will have a full-size SUV body and will be built on the Ram 1500 truck body.
It will be powered by the HEMI V8 and will have an 8-speed automatic transmission. Though there aren’t many details released surrounding the potential cost of the Wagoneer, it is estimated to come in around the mid $40,000’s.
2020 Ford Bronco
Coming back after 25 years, the Ford Bronco will be an off-roading turbocharged 2-door SUV. Designed to compete with the Jeep Wrangler, the Bronco will include Dana axles and AdvanTEK gear similar to that of the Wrangler so that drivers can take it wherever they want to go.
It is coming in at the low $30,000 price point and will have a 2.3-L engine that produces 270 horsepower. The original production run of the Bronco was 1966 until 1996.
2020 Audi R8
In the supercar market since 2007, the Audi R8 is getting a 2020 revamp and redesign. The new 2020 R8's will produce 562 horsepower and under the hood will hold a powerful V10 engine and go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.
The interior of the R8 will have an upgraded sound system, navigation, a signal booster, and smartphone wireless charging. Pricing for the base model will start at $169,900 and it will arrive in late summer.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
The Mustang Shelby GT500 is the most powerful production Mustang to come from Ford and Ford has announced that this new model will release in the fall of 2019 and come with over 700 horsepower with the power to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.
The GT500 will come standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and is estimated to be priced in the mid to high $60,000's, which won't bother die-hard fans of the brand.
2020 Toyota Corolla
Easily one of the brand's top-selling models, the Toyota Corolla will get an update to its safety technology with Toyota's Safety Connect, a pre-collision system, road sign assist, and other safety features.
In line with a compact car, the Corolla will have a small 1.8-L 4-cylinder engine and produce around 139 horsepower. The redesigned Corolla will come in at around $20,000 and buyers can expect it in dealerships in the spring.
2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA
A longer and wider model than its previous model, the CLA sedan will keep its smooth streamlined body style and design. One of the big changes that Mercedes-Benz is bringing to 2020 is the User Experience Infotainment system which is a voice assistant that uses artificial intelligence to anticipate the driver's needs.
All of the CLA’s will come standard with a 2.0-L turbo 4-cylinder engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The base model for this vehicle comes in at $33,000.
2020 Ford Explorer
Going into a complete redesign for the 2020 year, the Ford Explorer will come with three available rows and an all-new rear-wheel-drive platform. It will have a 2.3-L turbo 4-cylinder engine that will have 300 horsepower - though Ford will give buyers the option to purchase the Ford Explorer ST which is more performance-focused and features a larger engine and more horsepower.
In addition to more cargo space, the interior will feature more technology and buttons and will ultimately be able to handle more functions for a future upgrade.
2020 Lamborghini Urus Perfomante
A performance model of the already popular Lamborghini Urus SUV, the Performante will have more power, less weight and will overall be more aerodynamic. Visually, the body style will be more aggressive and beefier to accompany the mechanical upgrades the SUV will bring.
The Urus Performante will have a twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine with 641 horsepower. To accompany the higher horsepower that the SUV will have, buyers can expect it to come with new sport seats and carbon fiber parts.
2020 Hyundai Santa Cruz Pickup
Unveiled at the 2015 Detroit International Auto Show, the Santa Cruz pickup is a crossover-based light pickup truck based on the Santa Fe crossover. It will feature a 2.0L turbodiesel engine, but buyers will have the option to upgrade the engine if they desire more speed.
The Santa Fe Cruz isn't the only crossover that Hyundai is planning to release in 2020 and fans of the brand can expect up to four more brand new models.
2020 Alfa Romeo GTV
Though it doesn't have an exact release date, FCA plans to unveil the Alfa Romeo GTV in 2020 as part of its 5-year strategy.
A 2-door coupe, the Alfa Romeo GTV is a performance vehicle based on the current Alfa Romeo Guilia and will be a hybrid model with four seats. Under the hood, the GTV will have a 447-kilowatt battery and is estimated to have over 600-horsepower and will be an all-wheel-drive.
2020 Genesis GV80
Based on the popular Hyundai Santa Fe platform, the Genesis GV80 is going to be one of the largest Genesis models to date and was unveiled at the New York International Auto Show in 2017.
It will come with 3.3L twin-turbo V6 engine and will come with the option to buy the 5.0L V8 engine as well. Under the engines, the GV80 will have 365 to 420 horsepower and come with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2020 Polestar 1 & 2
Part of Volvo's performance division, the Polestar 1 is a hybrid high-performance plug-in 2-door coupe. The Polestar 2 is supposed to compete with the Tesla Model 3 with a starting price just under $40,000.
On the other hand, the Polestar 1 coupe will cost over $150,000 and will be able to generate 600 horsepower and provides 150 miles of range. While the Polestar 2 will be mass-produced and available for anyone to buy, only 500 Polestar 2 units will be made initially with limited availability.
2020 Kia Stinger GTS
Surprising and electrifying since its debut in 2018, the luxury compact car is getting an upgraded GTS trim that will be its most powerful to date.
The GTS will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.3-L V6 engine that produces 365 horsepower and will have the newly developed all-wheel-drive system as well as a drift mode. It will be built with carbon fiber parts and will start in the mid $40,000's with an option to buy a D-AWD trim level as well.
2020 Hyundai Sonata
One of the best mid-size sedans available to buyers, the Sonata is going into its eighth generation with more cargo space, a larger more advanced touch screen, and more comfortable supportive seats.
The Sonata will come standard with a 2.5-L 4-cylinder engine that gets 191 horsepower. On the interior of the Sonata, new interior upgrades will include a 12.3 digital cluster and a 10.25-inch HD screen. New sonatas are scheduled to go on sale in October 2019 with pricing yet to be revealed.
2020 Porsche 911
One of the most popular Porsche models, Porsche is giving the 911 a new redesign in 2020. The new 911 will have a wider front and rear end with staggered 20-inch wheels in the front of the car and 21-inch wheels in the back.
The standard transmission will be an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic and will be powered by a twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder engine that produces 443 horsepower. Interested buyers can expect to pay in the low $110,000's for an entry model expected to be released in the summer.
2020 Lincoln Aviator
The mid-size SUV entry will come in 2020 with a new look and added features. As part of the Ford luxury division, the Aviator will still exude a luxurious feel and maintain a finished cabin made from minimally processed leather.
Technically the Aviator is more advanced than previous models and will include an optional adaptive air suspension system that uses a built-in camera to look for potholes and uneven roads. Buyers can expect the Lincoln Aviator to go on sale in summer 2020.
2020 Cadillac XT6
A brand new entry on the Cadillac lineup, the XT6 will fill the gap between the Escalade and the XT5. The XT6 has a power-folding third row and the second row even comes with a remote to fold automatically on its own.
The powertrain of the XT6 is a 3.6-L V6 engine that gets 310 horsepower and the XT6 comes standard with a 9-speed transmission. While no pricing has been released, buyers can expect the Cadillac XT6 to go on sale in Summer 2020.
2020 Kia Mohave
An all-new model coming from the Korean car manufacturer, the Kia Mohave is a little smaller but more rugged than the Kia Telluride. A compact SUV, the Mohave is expected to come out in early 2020 alongside some of the other Kia models that the company is releasing as well.
Rumors say that the body of the vehicle won't have any Kia badging on it at all and will only have the Mohave emblem, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
2020 Cadillac Escalade
A full redesign of the Cadillac Escalade is expected to come out next year in 2020. It will sport a new 4.0L V8 engine and there are rumors that it will include a plug-in hybrid model in the future.
The next model is expected to abandon its rear axle design to be replaced with a rear suspension or air suspension system. The interior will also see another upgrade and will include cues from both Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
2020 Aston Martin Vantage Roadster
A drop-top performance coupe, the Aston Martin Vantage Roadster is a long-awaited posh luxury sports car that is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2020.
It will have an electrically retractable soft top and will have slightly more weight than previous models but that won't negatively impact its performance. It will have a starting price of $150,000, can go from 0-60 in just 3.5 seconds and will top out its speed at 196 mph.
2020 Tesla Roadster
The most advanced Tesla model released yet, the Tesla Roadster is one of the most unique supercars on the market. It has three electric motors and can o from 0-60 in just 1.9 seconds and maxes out at 250 mph.
It's 200 kWh battery pack gives the Roadster 620 miles of range, and the starting price is around $200,000. The new model was revealed at the 2017 Tesla Semi Event and will go by the name Tesla Roadster MK2.
2020 Aston Martin DBX
The release of the DBX will mark the first crossover in the Aston Martin lineup and it is expected to perform and be as luxurious as Aston Martin's other models.
While exact details for the DBX haven’t been revealed to the public yet, but what Aston Martin has said about the DBX is that it will share the Mercedes-Benz M177 V8 engine, a twin-turbocharged 4.0-L that produces over 500 horsepower. That sounds pretty good to us!
2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition
Ranking highly in the sports coupe market, the Lexus RC F Track Edition is a small luxury sports car that almost looks like a Hot Wheel. Buyers and journalists have speculated that the "F" in the name might refer to fun, fast, furious and a host of other verbs but Lexus hasn't confirmed what it might actually mean.
What Lexus did tell us is that the RC will have over 470 horsepower and go from 0 to 60 in just 3.96 seconds.
2020 Kia Soul
Winning US News' "Best Compact Car for the Money" award, the Kia Soul's newest redesign was hinted at the Los Angeles International Auto Show in 2018.
With the new redesign, Kia has added two new trim models as well. Now buyers have the option to buy from the Kia Soul’s GT-Line which is a more sportier trim and the X-Line which is more rugged. Kia lengthened the body of the Soul and extended its wheelbase to improve handling and give the driver and passengers more space.
2020 Mazda3
One of the most popular Mazda models to date, the compact car is getting a ton of updates in its 2020 model. Mazda is updating the Mazda's chassis, along with giving it a new interior and more power.
Its base Skyactiv-X 2.5-L 4-cylinder engine pushes out 186 horsepower and it will come standard as a front-wheel-drive. It will start out in the low $20,000’s with the highest models topping off in the high $20,000’s.
2020 Land Rover Evoque
The stylish compact luxury SUV will be making a comeback in 2020 with new upgrades and exciting features. It is getting built on a new platform and that is inspired by the Velar and the interior will now include a virtual view in which you can see through the SUV's hood via the touch screen display.
Evoque’s base model will be powered by a 2.0-L turbo engine with a hybrid powertrain also available to buyers.
2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA
The smallest SUV on the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup, the Mercedes-Benz GLA hasn't had a remodel in years so in 2020 buyers can expect there to be some large changes.
For starters, the exterior of the GLA is getting an entire remodel with LED lights and curved lines to make the whole vehicle more aerodynamic. Expecting to appear in Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the US in early 2020, concept models of the GLA were last seen at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
2020 Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid
As more and more manufacturers are making hybrid and electric cars, FCA and Jeep are some of the last companies to join the rest of the crowd. One way they intend on closing that gap is by releasing the Jeep Wrangler Plug-In Hybrid.
It comes with everything that we expect from the Wrangler but with a more eco-friendly twist. Jeep borrowed the powertrain components for the Wrangler from the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and drivers can expect 33 miles of electrical range.
2020 BMW i4
The BMW i4 marks the first fully electric vehicle that will be mass-marketed by the luxury brand. The 4-door hatchback will have a range of over 370 miles before needing to be recharged and the i4 will also have new headlights that are more slanted and dramatic.
Prices for the i4 have yet to be determined but BMW did mention that it would be more affordable to consumers than some of its other models since it is competing with the likes of the Tesla 3, which starts in the mid $30,000's.
2020 Toyota Supra
Developed in partnership with BMW, the fifth-generation Japanese sports car is coming back faster and more advanced than its previous models. The 2-seater coupe is going to be shorter than the Toyota 86 and will have a turbocharged 3.0L engine that will produce around 335 horsepower.
The entry price for the Supra will start at around $50,000 and can go from 0-60 in just 4.1 seconds. Resembling the GR Supra Racing concept car, the Supra will be available in late 2019 at Toyota dealerships globally.
2020 Rimac C_Two
Built by the Croatian company and coming in as their second hypercar, the Rimac C_Two is the successor of the show-stopping Rimac Concept One.
Only 150 units are expected to be built and sold coming in at $2 million apiece, with all of them already reserved and paid for. Outside of its steep price tag, the Rimac is made mostly of carbon fiber and has 1,888 horsepower making it the fastest production car in the world.
2020 Chevrolet Corvette
Intended to raise the bar on the already loved Corvette, this new model will be more efficiently built with better weight distribution and aerodynamics to up its performance.
Expected to come in at a higher price point than its previous models, even if you can afford its estimated $55,000 starting price tag, all of the new 2020 models have mostly been spoken for and are reserved. If you can't get one now, Chevrolet has also mentioned a possible hybrid model in the future.
