The Chevy Camaro Is Being Canceled
The last year you will be able to buy a Chevy Camaro might be right around the corner -- 2023 to be exact. The devastating news comes after a Muscle Cars & Trucks report came out saying the in-development seventh-generation car was being shelved by Chevy.
All this means that the current sixth-generation Camaro, which will run through the above stated year, will be the muscle car's last. When asked for comment by Motor Authority, Chevy changed the subject, "While we will not engage in speculation, we will remind you of our recently announced updates coming to the Camaro lineup this fall."
The company then went on to detail the exciting new upgrades awaiting consumers, "An all-new LT1 model will provide customers V8 power with the design and affordability of our LT trim. The award-winning SS model will feature a new front fascia from the Camaro Shock concept."
If you've tracked sales numbers for the current Camaro, then the news shouldn't come as a surprise. In 2018, less than 51,000 models were sold, which was a 25 percent drop from the previous year. This, more than anything, likely influenced Chevy's decision to end the run of the Camaro when the production line dries up in the next few years.
