General Motors is going all out with their currently under wraps eight generation Corvette. The reveal of the car was delayed by six months, and in July we should get our answers as to why. One theory is that the car will have the ability to "brick" itself if someone tries to hack or tune into its system.

According to reports, the new Corvette will use a global electrical system framework that is insanely complex. The system is controlled by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that can tell if someone has tuned in to change its code.

When that hack has been detected, the car will enter "recovery mode" and become an expensive brick. By doing this, the Corvette can return to its factory defaults while cutting off the tuner entirely.

By installing this new system, General Motors hopes to change the reputation of the Corvette, which is currently a favorite of "code tuners." This new system is so complex that replacing it with a more easily modified one is no easy task.

The new Corvette will be launched in Orange County, California on July 18. At that time, all the features of the newly redesigned icon will be revealed.
