Tesla To Offer In-Vehicle Netflix And YouTube Streaming

The team at Tesla has announced plans to debut in-car streaming services that will include Netflix and YouTube. In June the company's CEO, Elon Musk, announced plans to debut infotainment options that would include YouTube and other streaming support.

An announcement made by Musk over the weekend says the new services are coming "soon" although an exact timeline has yet to be given. It was previously revealed that the company's updated software would support the service.

For non-Tesla drivers worried about accidents, Musk has said the service will only work when the vehicle is stopped. However, the company plans to release a driving-mode version of the software once fully-autonomous driving is "approved by regulators."

Tying new technology into the Tesla platform, Musk says it will be much like watching an old drive-in movie but with "much better sound" and a more "immersive, cinematic feel."

Now, Tesla owners will have to wait to see what "soon" means but Musk has a reputation of moving quickly so the update is likely just around the corner.
